Simyra's Camp Diary: September 2009

After being weathered into camp for 2 days, the sun is finally shining. Lots of rain over the past few days have raised the creek level. Our afternoon hike found Audrey wandering up Clint's Creek in search for salmon. Lots of dead and spawned out fish are laying decaying on the creek bank but Audrey was determined to find a fresh one. A young male bear fished upstream and walked back and forth into the willows with every fish he picked up. More gulls are making their way further up the creek in search for fish washing up on the sand. The gulls cannot break through the fishes skin without the bear's help so the gulls start with plucking out the fish eye balls and then await a wandering bear to bite and tear the fish into pieces.
