gray paw Field Notes from Herb's Diary:

August 1, 2010 ~ "While returning from the creek we were blocked by a mom and 2 cubs who had decided to relax by the creek side. Because the group was returning to Homer by plane within the next hour we could not afford to wait for the bear family to move, so we blazed a new trail via a loosely connected series of bear paths, over a small ridgeline that put us well beyond the bears. Neither hail, sleet nor bear jams can keep us from our appointed departure!"
