HEIGHT:  A bear is measured from the bottom of its paw (flat on the ground) to the highest point of the shoulder:   

 

• Brown Bear: 3 to 5 ft
• Black Bear: 2.5 to 3 ft

• Polar Bear: up to 5.3 ft


LENGTH: A bear is measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail: 

• Brown Bear: 7 to 10 ft
• Black Bear: 6 ft
• Polar Bear: 8 to 10ft
