John's Camp Diary: August 2009

Balmy morning turned to more rain - light but steady. At the west meadow, we were looking at large dark brown bear, when shucks, I see two brown ears and two wolf eyes peering at us through grass then disappear again. Bloomin' reddish brown wolf again! It was laying in grass 40 yards off. We jockeyed around to better view, and it finally stood up and moved to creek edge then sauntered across the big meadow. Couple bears at base of cliff before we headed back in due to rain. One bear caught a fish in main creek in evening, then the rain stopped. Good day for bear viewing and seeing wilderness wildlife.
