DeWaine's June 10th Flight to Hallo Bay

"We took off heading for Hallo Bay but first made a scouting flight over Camp. We decided to continue to South Hallo. We spotted at least 5 bears clamming and in the meadow. We landed and decided to look at the grazing bears. We watched this male/female pair graze together for a while and when they headed for the trees in the heat of the day (it was about 65 F, HOT for a bear) we went to beach to watch the clamming bears. We had lunch and followed a clamming bear back into the meadow and watched him graze from a ridge. Before we left Pilot Deb reported a sow and our first Spring cubs of the season clamming on the flats! What a sight to watch them learn to clam and wrestle! We then took off and Deb took us on a scenic route back to Homer passing over Kaguyak volcano and up to Four Peak and Douglas Volcanos. A beautiful day."
